Citizenship resources
Use Learning Express Library online to access Canadian citizenship practice tests. Ask about our other citizenship resources at the library’s Information Desk.
Virtual Citizen Resource Centre (VCRC)
This is a comprehensive and interactive website created to assist newcomers prepare for Candian Citizenship. Includes sample tests, referral service to community resources and other tips for the citizenship test.
English as a second language collection
Texts, workbooks, audio CDs and DVDs to help you learn English. Staff at the library’s Information Desk can show you where to find these collections.
Links to Language Multilingual Kits
Parents and caregivers can help children learn their heritage language by borrowing the Links to Language Multilingual Kits, available in five different languages: Korean, Farsi, Chinese (Mandarin, traditional or simplified characters), French and Spanish. Generously funded by proceeds from the Library’s 2011 Links to Literacy Golf Tournament, each kit contains 10 books, a CD, a DVD and a resource manual with early literacy tips and activity suggestions. This newspaper is for adults who are improving their English reading skills.

Books, movies and music in many languages from around the world. Use these to foster home language retention or to help you learn another language.

Stay connected to home with online world newspapers from Press Display. Read newspapers from 92 countries in 48 languages at the click of a mouse. A library card is required.

English practice groups
English practice groups run by SHARE take place in the library’s ParkLane Room every Friday morning.
English foundations 3 classes
School District 43 offers English foundations 3 classes in the library on Monday and Wednesday mornings. Register at 604-936-4261.
Adult Learner Book Club
Adults learning English or upgrading their reading skills are welcome to join the book club for an opportunity to make friends, share new and interesting books and practice their English.
